DESCRIPTION:Come and join the fun at the newly renovated Doncaster Hill Community Garden! \nEvery 2 weeks community members gather to lend a hand with planting\, sowing seeds\, weeding\, watering and harvesting fresh produce. \nComprising of wicking beds\, fruit trees and herb patches\, the produce is grown and harvested communally. While the produce gets donated to a local food bank\, volunteers are able to get involved in fun and interesting activities\, learn about gardening and connect with others. \nThe garden is open to all and welcomes anyone with an interest in growing food\, meeting others and learning new things. \nAll gardening tools are provided. Please bring a water bottle\, hat and closed toe shoes. \nNo registration required.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special guided walk through Currawong Bush Park with Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Elder Uncle Bill Nicholson Jr. \nDuring this walk\, Uncle Bill will share stories of the area’s cultural and historical significance\, offering insights into Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung traditions and the deep connection between people and Country. \nThis is a unique opportunity to: \n\nbroaden your cultural awareness\nhear firsthand from a respected Elder\ndeepen your understanding of how Traditional Owners cared for our landscape.\n\nAbout Uncle Bill Nicholson Jr \nUncle Bill is the principal cross-cultural educator for the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation\, working across corporate\, not-for-profit and university sectors. A passionate advocate for cultural rights\, he shares his extensive knowledge to help others understand and respect Wurundjeri heritage. \nAs a Winston Churchill Fellowship recipient\, Uncle Bill studied cultural practice among First Nations communities in urban settings. He also represented Victoria in the First People’s Assembly that contributed to the development of the Uluru Statement from the Heart. \nParticipant information: \n\nPlease arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled start time.\nDress appropriately for the weather and wear closed-toed footwear.\nThe walk covers 1.5 kilometers and includes some steep slopes.\nIn the event of extreme weather or total fire ban\, the event will be cancelled.
