SUMMARY:Restoring Healthy Soils
DESCRIPTION:Event description\n\nSave time and money in the garden by shoring up the foundations: soil. In this workshop Craig Castree reveals some key fundamentals to restoring healthy soils including the magic of humus and importance of microbial activity. While soil might not be the typical topic of conversation\, it’s time it became a priority. His new book\, Soil is Not A Dirty Word goes beyond just sounding the alarm\, it offers a solution after solution to the problems most of us never knew we had with soil. We’ll take a regenerative approach that revitalises the soil\, reduces reliance on chemical inputs\, and restores its nutrient density. Castree’s strategies promise to revolutionise edible gardening\, farming\, and growing food plants. \nPlease feel free to bring any surplus produce\, seeds\, cuttings\, plants\, gardening magazines etc to swap and share! \n  \nPlease note that this is an event for Naarm/Melbourne gardeners only. If you live outside this area\, please contact your council to find out what free sustainable gardening events are available locally. \nThis session will be hosted at the Maribyrnong Edible Gardens inside the Raleigh Road Activity Centre. The centre is wheelchair accessible\, including accessible bathrooms. The garden has uneven ground. If you have any access or support questions or requirements in order to participate fully (eg. interpreter)\, please let us know at least two weeks prior to the event and we will be pleased to assist you. Photos will be taken at this event\, but there is an option to opt out on the day. \nThis My Smart Garden event is proudly presented by Maribyrnong City Council on the land of Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong of the Kulin nation.
