SUMMARY:Online: Edible Weeds - The Most Carbon Saving Food
DESCRIPTION:Continuing our “Carbon in the Garden” Series\, is this Master Class session on Edible Weeds.  Weeds are often seen as a nuisance by home gardeners\, but they are actually a valuable\, untapped resource rich in nutrients and minerals. With minimal help required to grow\, they are the ultimate low carbon food source\, for you and your garden!  It makes you question why we don’t use and eat more of them! \nIn this one hour masterclass given by Teresa Day\, you will learn to identify\, manage and use weeds using an integrated approach that minimizes environmental impact. The session will cover how to utilize weeds as a natural fertilizer and food source\, including: \n– Understanding what constitutes a weed. \n– Exploring the nutrients found in weeds. \n– Techniques for making garden fertilizer from weeds. \n– Enhancing compost with weeds. \n– Using weeds for pest control. \n– Identifying edible weeds and understanding common weed profiles. \nThis session is one of four in a Masterclass Series “Carbon In Your Garden”. Other topics include – Growing Herbs and Teas\, Bloom at Home: Why and How to Grow Your Own Cut Flowers\, Importance of Native Grasses in Your Garden.  Book the Series Package for discount.  Friends of SGA receive a 15% discount on Master Class full price tickets.
